"prehistory" is a piece of PNW music history. Recorded at the UNKNOWN in sleepy Anacortes, a port town outside of Seattle, by Trevor Spencer (Father John Misty, Beach House, etc), the EP chronicles a band in a state of upheaval and transition. "prehistory" is a group of deeply personal songs that deal with loss, divorce, and the cruelty of the industry. Once flying high on label Dead Oceans, the band endured a series of crushing blows and obstacles. Singer and writer Benjamin Verdoes attempted to salvage the troubled band by tracking the foundation of the EP live. Although the inevitable spiral of the band continued, the EP was finished and shared in a limited fashion. More than anything "prehistory" captures a band at the height of its abilities. Fresh off of years of writing and touring, young drumming phenom Marshall Verdoes, truly shines. Now, for the first time, "prehistory" will be made available through streaming services. Also included is a never-heard-before track called "Held Me."
